The festival of 2013 Ethiopian Epiphany in Melbourne Australia

Aster AwekePhotography and words: Befekir Kebede | Sunday, 20 January 2013

The 2013 Ethiopian Epiphany festival has been celebrated in Melbourne Australia in ways that are reminiscent of the traditional Epiphany or Timket celebrations that have been held in Ethiopia for generations.  From the way Ethiopian Timket-goers dress up for the festival to how the clergymen conduct their ceremonies, the rituals of the ancient Ethiopian Church are quite evident in these festivities held in modern Melbourne.
