Can you do that for my TV, Lol
Point was channel for hiding cords
Even tho this was the same year ps4 came out, it was still weird seeing a ps3
It would have been so much cooler if you made it so that the TV was recessed into the wall!
Was the whole purpose of you making the false wall so you didn't have to drill into the existing wall. Then by the end of the video you had to Anchor your fake wall by drilling into the real wall anyways that completely defeated the purpose……
I didn't hear you talk about power and where you are plugging the machine in for power. Otherwise I enjoyed the video.
I love the look!
USA electric code does not permit running the TV's detachable power cord inside a wall.
Anybody else get the fat girl advertisement?
Looks good. Worth the effort.
4:44 Bro, that's base moulding! Crown moulding goes on the ceiling! Easy mistake for beginner carpenters to make! haha, Great ideas and vids though! 🙂
I followed the instructions, built the wall and got to the end of the video- realized f** i gotta screw this up on my apartment wall. Now I'm screwed.
Sounded great up to the dumbass part. Of remove the molding and screw into the existing wall. Kinda stupid if you ask me. That's like still buying dog food and treats for a dead dog i once owned. If your that handy why not just mount the stand a d repair it later.
Why don't you run a wire cover against the wall so you can hold your wires in
why doesnt anyone ever just use metal studs? they are cheaper, lighter, and way easier for wiring
This seems to be one of those breaking up the lifeboat to make a raft type situations.
Amateur hour
I know that I'm hella late……..But that project turned out great.
Where's the other half of your TV?
I'd suggest a pull string to be left in before closing everything up in case you ever wanted to add some cables. Our techs routinely do that when running conduit for fiber. When you run another cable, run another pull string with it for future use.
Also, this would mainly come in handy if you are in an apartment with steel studs which can be a PITA to install a bracket on to,
5:00 what does it reminds me?
Its not what i was looking for. I wanted to view a fake window using a flat tv
This is not realistic for an apartment. By the time you do all that…
False walls are a great option for this situation. They are also great for cable management and can easily be turned into an accent wall with some reclaimed wood slats or similar. Elevate it with an inset or mounted electric fireplace. It also gives you flexibility when running your cabling that isn't always guaranteed when fishing wiring through existing walls. I can think of many reasons why this type of solution would be preferred.

If you're drilling it to the wall why not just mount the tv to the wall?
I know you can get solutions for that on woodprix website.
The time and money it takes to build this…. just screw the stupid holes and pay the security deposit.
I’m in an old house with lath and plaster walls, questionable wall strength, and a very heavy tv. Patching walls I can do just fine, but the TV could still make a big mess out of the plaster. I like this approach. I think I’ll do the same because I know I can trust the strength of the fake wall. Thanks for the video.
I am so sure that you will find good way to make it on wood prix.
They're gonna take your security deposit you say? Tear the entire house down and get your monies worth 🤔
nice video…. very funny 👍👍👍👍👍 like crown molding on the floor👍👍👍👍
Any landlord that trys to take ur security deposit over a few screw holes is a scumbag. Pretty sure any judge would laugh him out of court.
If I was ever going to spend time amd money doing this, it would be in a place I own. Otherwise, I’ll just keep my TV on a stand.
Whats the point of the fake wall when you have to screw the fake wall into the real wall which defeats the whole purpose of not drilling into the land lords wall? Thanks for wasting my time. ffs.
Those roller brackets are a good idea. My house is old and my living room is slightly slanted though so I have to measure and align or just eyeball it because spirit levels are useless.
I made it with woodprix handbooks !
On WoodPrix you can find excellent plans for woodworking.
Drill into wall. Spackle wall. Patch holes. Never lost a deposit. Note I've patched a hole in my wall the size of my head.
Did no one else catch the fact that he's telling you to cut out a section of baseboard to do this?!!! So he doesn't want holes in the wall but he's fine with cutting out the baseboard in a rental house!! What the hell…
And why do you even need to put such large holes in the wall! Just find ways to cover the cords… They actually make things to go over the cords that don't look bad at all compared to this crappy thing you made! Lol
Yeah…no thanks! I have these https://www.amazon.com/STANDiT-Drill-Wall-Mount-Screens/dp/B0723D1YC1/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1505151700&sr=8-2&keywords=standit in my office and my house so I can move TV mount anytime I need to.
use this video to build a wall you don't have to actually attach to your real wall
I can buy some spackle 5$ to cover holes, A can of texture 8$ if needed and paint 20$ to paint wall corner to corner. Y'all doing to much
Fake wall 😭😭😭 trump out here building real ones
Wall filler … paint over it = done
This is the most superfluous project I've ever seen. Way more difficult than just mounting the TV to the wall.
I don't want to damage the wall and lose my deposit. So I drill a ton of holes in the wall, and the best part – rip the skirting board off and make a hash and mess of adding it to the fake wall, it looks ugly. Sorry, don't mean to be too critical, coz you have some skills. In my opinion, this is a badly thought out project.
Better yet, get an old door. Should be free if you keep your eyes open for one. Screw a couple pieces of wood to reinforce where the tv mount goes, and mount your tv to the door. You can lean the door against the wall or put it behind a heavier piece of furniture with the door sandwiched between the wall and furniture so you don't have to make holes in the wall.
If you want a seamless look you can drill a hole in the old door and route the cables behind it. This video is a neat idea but pretty impractical.
Or, you could get a stud finder and screw your tv mount into the wall of your rental. Fix with a couple dabs of spackle before you move out. I've never rented a place where nail and screw holes weren't considered normal wear and tear
You're welcome.
or you could just spackle the holes your drilled into the actual wall, and use a butterfly patch to fill in the hole you used to hide the cords. and guess what, that just took 1/10 of the time and 1/50 of the money.
