I’m going to show you how to windows 10 on mac os high sierra with boot camp. I did run into some boot camp issues but once fixed, the windows 10 installation went smooth without a hitch.
You need at leat 40 GB of free space on mac for bootcamp to be to partition your mac but it’s better to have 45-50 GB free to be on the safe side and you need to download the windows 10 iso file from Microsoft.
I ran into boot camp issues and errors like boot camp giving warning saying there is not enough space on the startup disk. Firstly, I learned after reading around that you need to disable time machine automatic backups and you may use the terminal command to delete the time machine old timestamps which could be the culprit. You can do it by simply following the commands given below this post.
Now, the first command didn’t work for me so I tried the other fix and it took a bit of time but it worked like charm. Copy the command and enter it in the terminal and wait for the command to finish. It will give warning that your mac is running out of space but just IGNORE IT. Don’t try to again free up space.
Once the command finishes executing, you need to enter the delete command which will again clear up your mac free space as was before whether it was 40-50 or whatever it was free before.
Now, open bootcamp and viola it works at least it worked for me. Just partition as per your requirement and install windows 10.You need internet connection through out the process.

When I load onto the blue windows setup screen I cannot see/use my trackpad. I also cannot use tab or enter or anything on my keyboard to select language. My mouse is completely disappeared.
Well I wasn't previously getting that issue but now I am.
It totally worked for me man… Thanks a lot 🙏🏾
what do you mean by "once the command finishes executing"? You mean until space is ALL gone? Would it be finished? It is taking ages and still not finish executing?
I am using Mac OS Catalina on Macbook pro 2013 model. Faced the same issue and suggested in your video I tried all steps one by one, but still no luck. Anyone else having the same issue even after following the suggestions made in this video?
It still give me an error plz help
It said “the windows support software could not be saved to the selected drive” ??? Any suggestions?
DONT't DO IT. Worst Experience Ever. Bad trackpad. No gestures. Have to get third party software to get gestures back and see battery percentage. It's like Apple designed Bootcamp to make Windows experience the worst on a MacBook!
I really recommend to read the original guide to understand what these commands are doing: https://www.jackenhack.com/mac-os-remove-purgeable-high-sierra/
For me it worked freeing more than 42gb(like ~52gb), not sure why, but when i did have around 52gb of free storage, it worked. Thanks anyway.
I have a 500GB SSD memory and i have over 300GB of free space, and i still get the error saying not enough space on drive. What am i doing wrong?
I get an error at the end of the partition process, said that an error occured during the Windows installations file's copy. How can I fix that?
Still no cigar. I have a iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013). Every time I open boot camp assistant I click continue and then I have three options with tick boxes: Option one "Create a Windows 7 or later version instal disk (I will need a USB flash drive and ISO image download)" Option two "download the latest windows support software from apple (The support software, designed specifically for each Mac, is required to fully support windows and includes boot camp drivers etc…)", and option three: Instal windows 7 or later version (This allows you add a windows partition and start the installation process etc…)
How long should the dd if=/dev/zero of=~/stupidfile.crap command take to complete? Iʻve been waiting some time now (1 hour..)
Neither command worked for me even though i am using the same Macbook model.
Mine is saying driver missing during boot ?
But how can I fix 'not enough space' in your USB error? I am using a 16GB pendrive.
Hi. I managed to install win10 on my mac air. The problem is that i can't get sound to work. And all those windows support drivers won't work on win10 because they are for win7/8. Any suggestions?
mine says no disk space pls help

I entered "dd if=/dev/zero of=~/stupidfile.crap" in terminal and waited until it gave the command line "no space left on device" and removed the file with the command "rm ~/stupidfile.crap" and tried to load up bootcamp but it still gives me "You must have at least 40 GB of free space available." help 🙁

Hello, I have been having issues installing windows using bootcamp. its says "your bootable usb drive could not be created, there is not enough space available on the disk" I have tried all command including
sudo tmutil thinlocalsnapshots / 999999999999
dd if=/dev/zero of=~/stupidfile.crap
rm ~/stupidfile.crap
And also unticked time machine, It still brings the same thing when i try to install again. On my storage I have 716 GB available..
Please Is there any another solution or fix to this issue????????
I have tried doing this :
dd if=/dev/zero of=~/stupidfile.crap
rm ~/stupidfile.crap
BUT bootcamp still says "The startup disk does not have enough space to be partitioned".
It worked before, however when it was doing partitioning, my mac went off (sleep or run out of battery), so i force shut down.
and now, i tried to re-do everything and it's not working.
Come on, can anyone help? I have spent hours/ days doing this 🙁
